Interview : Dr. Kim, Co-Founder of Modern Pilates
On August 3rd , we were honored to interview Dr. Kim, Co-Founder and CEO of Modern Pilates from Korea, who shared his insights on the development of the global health industry and his perspectives on opportunities in the Chinese market.
Global Trends in Health and Rehabilitation
According to Dr. Kim, Modern Pilates has long been loved by people around the world, not only for improving posture and overall health but also for its significant role in rehabilitation. In particular, Pilates has proven effective in alleviating chronic pain and reducing long-term medical costs. With the economic growth of Southeast Asia and other regions, the demand for health management and rehabilitation programs continues to rise, presenting a valuable opportunity for expansion.
Challenges and Opportunities in the Chinese Market
Speaking about China, Dr. Kim acknowledged that while the market is vast and full of potential, it is also highly complex, requiring thoughtful planning and localized strategies. With his extensive experience in the Pilates field, he hopes to develop a chain network in China, integrating the Pilates philosophy into the Chinese business context to create a sustainable growth model.
He also noted that Chinese manufacturing is rapidly advancing in quality and innovation, giving Chinese brands a strong edge in reaching global markets. At the same time, the fitness and rehabilitation industry in China is adopting more automation and smart systems, which aligns well with the technology-driven approach of Modern Pilates.

Recalling his visit to China a decade ago, Dr. Kim observed that the industry was then heavily reliant on manual services. Today, intelligent equipment and automated solutions are being adopted at an impressive pace. He believes that exchanging experiences between countries enables mutual learning and accelerates industry growth. By collaborating with the Chinese market, Modern Pilates can not only serve local consumers but also share China’s success stories with the rest of the world.
